T : Look at this cat. It was a pet before, but it is not a pet now.  Does it live in a house?

S : No.

T : Right. It doesn't live in a house. It lives in the wild. How does it look?

S : ....

T : Does it look happy?

S : No.

T : How does it look?

S : Sad. / Tired. / Hungry...

T : I think so too.

T : Look at this picture. Do you know what it is? Where was this photo taken?

S : Hanshin.

T : Right. It was taken in Kansai. There were so many buildings and houses in this picture. However, most of them were broken because they had a big earthquake.

T : Many people became homeless and they came to this place and stayed there for a long time. what do you call this place?

S : 避難所.

T : Right. We call it shelter. People were so tired, nervous and worried there. Can pets live in shelters?

S : No. I don't think so.

T : Me, either. It was too hard for those pets to live with people because even those people had little food and it was so hard to get new clothes and to take a bath. In Program 8, we're going to learn about those pets.
